Terms of use
Last updated: 16 October 2026
These terms apply to Footprintbook (footprintbook.com and the Footprintbook apps), offered by MR-Beveiliging B.V. (Kauwenhoven 30, 6741 PW Lunteren, Chamber of Commerce 76710467, VAT NL860766378B01). Questions? Email [email protected].
1. Your account
You need to be 16 or older. Your account is personal: keep your password to yourself and give correct details. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
2. Your content stays yours
Your trips, routes, photos, videos and stories belong to you. You only give us permission to store and process them (for example resizing photos and converting videos) and to show them to the people you share them with, so we can provide the service. Do not upload anything illegal or anything you have no rights to, and only share someone's location with their consent. You can download all your data in your profile at any time.
We do not tolerate offensive, hateful, violent or sexually explicit content, or harassment or abuse of others. If you see something like that in someone else’s trip, report it with “Report inappropriate content” in that trip or via [email protected]. We review reports within 24 hours and may remove such content and block or close accounts.
3. Free and Pro
The free plan is free of charge and has the limits shown on our pricing page. Pro is a subscription that costs $5.49 a month or $37.99 a year, including VAT, and renews automatically until you cancel. Payment is handled by Mollie. You can cancel at any time in your profile; Pro then stays active until the end of the period you paid for, and you are not charged again. Paid periods are not refunded, except as described under 4 or where the law requires it.
We may change prices or limits. For Pro you hear about a price change at least 30 days in advance; it only applies from your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.
4. Right of withdrawal (EU)
When you start Pro, you ask us to start right away. You may still withdraw within 14 days of your first payment by emailing us. You then get your money back, minus the part of the period you already had Pro.
5. When Pro ends
Nothing is deleted. For 60 days everything stays exactly as it is, so you have time to download your videos or to renew. After that, videos longer than the free limit (1 minute) are kept in a smaller size (480p). New videos are then again limited to the free plan. If you start Pro again, new videos are stored in Full HD; videos that were already reduced stay as they are.
6. Printed photo books
The price you see when ordering includes VAT and free shipping within the EU, Australia and New Zealand. Your book is printed and bound especially for you by our print partner and usually arrives within 1 to 2 weeks. Because a photo book is made to your own design, there is no right of withdrawal. Is there a printing fault, or does the book arrive damaged? Let us know within 14 days (a photo helps) and we print a new one free of charge. You are responsible for the content of your book, such as spelling and the photos you choose. The free preview is for your own use only.
7. Availability
We do our best to keep Footprintbook running smoothly and your data safe, with daily backups. We cannot guarantee that the service is always available or free of errors. Keep your own copy of anything that is irreplaceable (use the download in your profile).
8. Ending your account
You can delete your account in your profile at any time; everything is deleted and a running subscription is stopped. We may suspend or end an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms.
9. Liability
We build Footprintbook with care, but you use it at your own risk. We are not liable for:
- indirect or consequential damage, such as lost profit, missed plans or emotional damage;
- loss of data or content: keep your own copy of anything irreplaceable (use the download in your profile);
- damage caused by others who gain unauthorised access to our systems or to your account (for example hacking or a leaked password), as long as we took appropriate security measures;
- outages, errors or decisions of services we depend on, such as payment providers, print and shipping partners, map, app store and hosting providers;
- the accuracy of locations, routes, distances, translations and texts written with AI help: check them yourself;
- content that users upload or share, and what the people you share your trip with do with it.
Where we are liable, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the damage, with a maximum of €250. These limits do not apply in case of intent or gross negligence, and they do not affect the rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law.
10. Indemnification
You indemnify us against claims of others (for example about copyright, privacy or portrait rights) that arise from content you upload or share, from sharing someone's location or photos without their consent, or from breaking these terms or the law. You compensate the reasonable costs we incur because of such claims.
11. Security
We protect your data with appropriate technical and organisational measures, such as encrypted connections, limited access and backups. No system is completely secure. If a data breach affects you, we inform you and, where required, the Dutch Data Protection Authority, as the law requires. Use a strong password that you use nowhere else, and tell us right away if you think someone else uses your account.
12. Force majeure
We are not liable for not (fully) meeting our obligations because of circumstances beyond our control, such as outages of internet or energy, cyber attacks, failures of suppliers, strikes, natural disasters, pandemics or government measures.
13. Changes and law
If we change these terms, we tell you in advance by email or in the app. Dutch law applies; as a consumer you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your own country.
